These black ‘Chandre’ culottes from People Tree are the perfect addition to anyone’s wardrobe. Those who are already culotte converts will know exactly what I mean when I say they are THE best trousers ever to be invented. I like to call them outdoor pyjamas, they look stylish and presentable but are so comfy you may as well be wearing sweats – perfect for dressing up and down, they are the epitome of wardrobe staple. This pair are Fairtrade and made from 100% organic cotton so they are beautifully soft. Retailing at £49 they are definitely worth investing in as you will be able to get so much wear out of them.
To show you how versatile they are, here are three looks for three different styles and occasions.
Look #1 – Arty Chic
For this look I have paired the cullotes with this organic cotton pullover from Armed Angels. I love the abstract print on the jumper and the cropped fit means that it will sit just wear the cullotes flare which always looks really flattering. I’ve paired it with this Kånken backpack, which is so neat and practical, and I love the design – perfect for storing all your books, mags, pens and packed lunches and this one is made out of recycled plastic bottles which is obviously a bonus. To finish of the look I’ve added this pair of dreamy Veja trainers and these gorgeous reclaimed silver earrings from Ruth Beesley Jewellery to help you give off that effortlessly cool vibe.
Look #2 – Glam
This beautiful tie front crop top from Mayamiko paired with these culottes is a perfect, ultra-glam evening look if you’re not feeling like wearing a dress. The champagne gold colour is stunning and works for all seasons. Being made from silk makes this outfit dressy enough for a night out or dinner – what I like to call the ‘culottes and a nice top’ look. It’s made in Milan by ethical workshop ‘Fiore all’Occhiello’, a social cooperative that provides stable employment for disadvantaged women, refugees, and asylum seekers. I’ve teamed it with a pair of subtle and chic Matt and Natt slip ons with a matching clutch bag. These nod to current trends without the risk of becoming out of style and the shoes are great because they are also suitable as ‘formal wear’ when heels aren’t necessarily appropriate ie. at the office or when you want to have a heavy dancing session on a night out. To finish the look I have added this gorgeous pair of handmade gold earrings by Izzie Roffe Silvester, who makes all her jewellery from recycled metals.
Look #3 – Casual Cool
For this laid back look I have teamed the cullotes with a white MELK cropped sweater. A nod to sport chic with just the right amount of style, this is a great down time outfit – I’m thinking weekend vibes or a day at uni. I’ve teamed it with a Patagonia backpack that’s big enough to fit all your books and your laptop, and a pair of Ethletic high cut classic canvas trainers. Ethletic are an awesome company that are completely Fairtrade, organic and all their products are 100% vegan. It’s still a bit chilly out, so don’t forget your beanie! I love this organic wool hat from armed angels, it’s such a gorgeous shade of grey!
These trousers are a perfect investment piece for your wardrobe as they can be dressed up and down, and are versatile enough to work for different styles.
